Pacific Coast, Marin County, CA
July 2003
|
Late on a Saturday afternoon,
Jon and I drove over to the Pacific coast near Stinson Beach in Marin
County, CA, in the hopes of catching some of that golden late-afternoon
light. Jon was trying out a rented
Hasselblad to help him decide if going medium-format is right for
him; I took the opportunity to put my relatively new Sigma 15-30 lens to
the test and to attempt some serious landscape photography (I even used
a tripod, for the first time in years!).
While the Pacific coast has a lot to offer in terms of rugged scenery,
at this time of year it doesn't offer much in the way of vibrant color.
Back in the postprocessing lab, I started experimenting with
black-and-white to see if it could bring a more interesting perspective
to things (gotta love digital--from color to B&W with a simulated orange
filter in just a few clicks). I think the experiment was
successful...see what you think!
