Colleville-sur-Mer: Omaha Beach
Colleville-sur-Mer is the only remaining part of Omaha beach that's been left untouched except for time. Situated in one of the four valleys that provided an approach to the mainland of France, this was one of the few attackable (though highly-defended) points along the beach. Remnants of German bunkers and artillery positions remain, supplemented by monuments to the allied forces who died in the D-Day invasions. |
