Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe
After Domaine du Pere Caboche, we went to Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe,
which makes one of the most prestigious (and expensive)
Chateauneuf-du-Pape's. This was a lot more like going wine-tasting in
Napa; there was a fancy, well-appointed tasting building obviously built
for that purpose, there were fliers in multiple languages, and I felt
much more like a tourist there than in the other wineries, where we
were received more as friends would be.
The wine that we tasted at Vieux Telegraph was quite good, but in the end I liked the Pere Caboche better, and it was certainly a much better deal at almost 10 euros less per bottle. |
