Vineyard, Domaine du Pere Caboche
| In Chateauneuf-du-Pape, we first stopped at this winery, the Domaine du Pere Caboche, recommended by one of Tyson's French acquaintances. It was a great choice--the wine was excellent and we got exceptional, personal service and a private tasting in the caves. It's also apparently one of the few wineries of Chateauneuf-du-Pape to still use and blend all 13 (!) grape varieties authorized for the AOC. One of the wines we tasted was made almost entirely from grapes from very old vines--80 years old, if I recall correctly! |
